How was yours?\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I hope you had an astounding one \u2013 filled with tasks being checked out off the list.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This has been one of those weeks where a severe writer\u2019s block decided to pay me an unwelcome visit.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It took me a couple of days to get over it. I had to go on a hunting expedition on Google in search of articles on how to overcome it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Fortunately, the search wasn\u2019t fruitless.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Here are some of the articles that helped me:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/goinswriter.com\/how-to-overcome-writers-block-2\/\">How to Overcome Writer&#8217;s Block: 14 Tricks That Work<\/a>.<\/li>\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.reedsy.com\/writers-block\/\">How to Overcome Writer&#8217;s Block: 20 Helpful Tips<\/a>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"And_Heres_How_I_Beat_It\"><\/span>And, Here&#8217;s How I Beat It:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"I_developed_a_writing_routine\"><\/span><strong>I developed a writing routine<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I set up writing my blogs at specific times during certain days of the week.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Eliminated_distractions\"><\/span><strong>Eliminated distractions<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I put my phone on &#8216;Don&#8217;t Disturb&#8217; mode. I closed all my social media accounts. I paused notifications on Slack \u2013 but had to peep in after every 60 minutes to see if there was no fire that needed me to put out.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Freewriting\"><\/span><strong>Freewriting<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" class=\"wp-image-825\" src=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/writing-routine-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/writing-routine-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/writing-routine-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/writing-routine-270x180.jpg 270w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/writing-routine-770x515.jpg 770w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/writing-routine.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Writing blocks happen when you put a lot of pressure on yourself to get it right from the first draft. Being a perfectionist won&#8217;t help during these times.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This reminds me of one of my favorite writing quotes by Anne Lamott:\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201c<em>Almost all good writing begins with terrible first efforts. You need to start somewhere. Start by getting something\u2014anything\u2014down on paper. What I&#8217;ve learned to do when I sit down to work on a shitty first draft <\/em><em>is to quiet the voices in my head<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Freewriting is about writing without second-guessing myself. I don&#8217;t pay attention to grammar and spelling mistakes. That&#8217;s for later when I edit the first draft into a second one.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Start_writing_first_then_organize_later\"><\/span><strong>Start writing first, then organize later<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I learned that sometimes when I am facing a block like the one I faced this week, I don\u2019t have to write in an organized way. I just have to put the information down.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Sometimes, this means starting with a middle paragraph and finishing with an introduction. And then, later on, I edit the draft and put the pieces of the puzzle in their rightful place.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Take_a_break\"><\/span><strong>Take a break<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It\u2019s okay to take a break in between your writing sessions. Sometimes you just have to let your ideas marinate.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I can do whatever I want, give my mind a bit of a break, and then return to my blog with a fresh, clear mind.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong><em>With that said, let\u2019s take a look at what I worked on this week:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"AB_Testing_on_FigPiis_Newsletter\"><\/span>A\/B Testing on FigPii&#8217;s Newsletter:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you have been following my FigPii journey, you\u2019d know that I send our newsletter every Monday at 10 am Eastern time.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This week, I thought I should start testing what really resonates with our subscribers and what doesn&#8217;t. So, I started by testing the newsletter&#8217;s subject line.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I came up with two types of subject lines. Instead of tracking open rates, I had to track click-through rates as my main metric for the test.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>So I sent the first to 50% of subscribers, and the other subject line to the other half. Here are the two subject lines I tested:\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Into the World of CRO With FigPii\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<li>FigPii Newsletter #5\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Before I tell you, which one won, take a wild guess? \ud83e\udd14<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Yes, you\u2019re right&#8230;the first subject line was the winner, with a 1.5% clickthrough rate. It also had a 44.6% open rate, whereas the second subject line had a 28.1%.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>So that means I will be sticking to the first subject line for some time.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Creating_a_Content_Calendar\"><\/span>Creating a Content Calendar<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"685\" class=\"wp-image-824\" src=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Creating-a-Content-Calendar-1024x685.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Creating-a-Content-Calendar-1024x685.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Creating-a-Content-Calendar-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Creating-a-Content-Calendar-270x180.jpg 270w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Creating-a-Content-Calendar-770x515.jpg 770w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Creating-a-Content-Calendar.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Another main task I had to focus on this week was to create a content calendar for this blog.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As someone who is still new in this field, coming up with good content ideas is an uphill task. It requires a lot of research.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>To cut the long story short, I started listening to various podcasts and watching a lot of conversion optimization webinars.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This process of creating a content calendar also required that I pay close attention to the keywords we are focusing on.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>After about a day or two, I finally presented my content ideas to our team members, and they were all approved.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Now, I have seven new articles to write about before this quarter comes to an end.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I\u2019d love to learn more about the process you go through when creating a content calendar.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Meeting_The_Team_Face_to_Face\"><\/span>Meeting The Team Face to Face\u00a0<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It\u2019s been two months since I joined FigPii, and I still haven\u2019t met my colleagues in person. The FigPii team is scattered around three different continents, so everyone has been working from home since the beginning of the pandemic.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Although I love working from the comfort of my home, not having that face-to-face interaction with team members is a downside of <a href=\"https:\/\/jooble.org\/blog\/exploring-main-types-of-remote-work\/\">remote working<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>But I\u2019m glad to let you know that I will be meeting some of my teammates today, at least those who are also based in Egypt. This is actually one of the things I have been looking forward to this whole week.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Honestly, I can\u2019t think of a better ending to my week than this.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Wrapping_Things_Up\"><\/span>Wrapping Things Up:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It was a bit of a rocky week, but I managed to go through it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Hopefully, next week, I will master multitasking and managing my time better.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I can&#8217;t wait for next week and what I am going to learn next.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello, my fellow readers!
