What makes you click on a headline and read the whole article? Would SEO still matter? It\u2019s when you have to pitch something in 30 seconds and sell it to the recipient.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You have to be able to get your headline across in like 5 seconds, and you need to pitch to your reader and convince them you\u2019re the right blog to read.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Can you do that with a complex headline? Probably not. It\u2019s used a lot in marketing to help drive more engagement, conversion, or whatever it\u2019s the business goal.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>But fear is an emotion, and since FOMO is a thing, you can use emotions to drive more clicks to your headlines.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As long as you\u2019re not clickbaity about it or making it vague, and people aren\u2019t just clicking because they\u2019re emotional.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Emotional headlines are compelling because we feel like it speaks to us directly without the feeling of it selling us anything.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Here\u2019s an example of an emotional example from <a href=\"https:\/\/tinybuddha.com\/blog\/we-are-allowed-to-age-why-i-dont-care-that-i-look-old\/\">TinyBuddah<\/a> that showcases the powerfulness of emotional headlines.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1720 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Aging.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"721\" height=\"173\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Aging.png 721w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Aging-300x72.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 721px) 100vw, 721px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>What are your feelings when you read this? It\u2019s like a nice breather after a long day in the hot sun of life.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"5\">\r\n<li>Try using headlines formulas<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>We\u2019ve all been there, a blank screen, a blinking cursor, and zero ideas about what to write down. Writer\u2019s block is something we struggle with a lot.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>And one of the best ways I found out works for me is to use formulas to generate headlines that get me unstuck, and I think it would work for you too.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Hubspot has made an excellent <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hubspot.com\/marketing\/headline-writing-tips\">infographic<\/a> that shows you formulas to use if you\u2019re feeling stuck, and their formulas are good.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Here let\u2019s take one of them as an example.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1721 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Negative-Word.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"641\" height=\"191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Negative-Word.png 641w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Negative-Word-300x89.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 641px) 100vw, 641px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In this example, they used a combination of a Negative word, an action, and a keyword.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Let\u2019s try and make a headline using this formula. We\u2019ll talk about headlines, so our subject will reflect that.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cStop Wasting Your Time Writing Bad Headlines, Use This Formula Instead.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>See what we did there? We made a compelling headline that makes you want to click on it in 30 seconds.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Not all of your headlines would be good, so I recommend the following.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Write multiple headlines, take a break, and then write another batch until you have 50 headlines.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Filter them down until you have a few really interesting headlines, then test them on your co-workers to see which ones grab more attention.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"6\">\r\n<li>Use trigger keywords like \u201cWhat, Why, How.\u201d<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Using trigger keywords incentivizes the reader to click on the headline because it invokes curiosity, and we humans love to know more.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If you present your reader with a question and then proceed to answer it within your blog, that\u2019s more than enough reason for a click.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>That\u2019s why \u201cHow-to\u201d blogs are super popular. It\u2019s \u201c25 Headlines\u201d.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>25 Headlines is a website that allows you to write multiple headlines and count the headline\u2019s characters to ensure you\u2019re not going overboard.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1723 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Headlines.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"845\" height=\"318\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Headlines.png 845w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Headlines-300x113.png 300w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Headlines-768x289.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 845px) 100vw, 845px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You\u2019re in the clear if your headline is under fifty characters. It doesn\u2019t mean you can\u2019t get over it; it just means aim for fifty or below.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Then you have fifty to sixty-two; you\u2019re good to go, but maybe try and get your headline a bit shorter, and that\u2019s why they give you a lot of space to try to shorten your headlines.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The next level is sixty-two to a hundred, which tells you that your headline is long and you might want to aim for something shorter.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In some places where long headlines aren\u2019t an issue, do your research due diligence to create the optimal headline for your purposes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A hundred is way too much; if you want to know how long that would be, allow me to demonstrate.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>\u201cHe Took the Road Less Traveled \u2014 You\u2019ll Never Guess What Happened Next To Him, His Entire Family !!!\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Never do that. I know there\u2019s a lot, but there\u2019s one that jumps into minds often.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Yes, BuzzFeed. they\u2019re entirely unusable at this point, and I wouldn\u2019t even use them for idea generation.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>But if you gave Hubspot your email, they\u2019d send you 250 headlines straight to your email, alongside a sales pitch.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>But going off these five headlines, I wouldn\u2019t get the 250 other headlines because if those five are the best, what do other headlines look like?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I\u2019d skip this tool without considering it;
