you understand more about A\/B testing, okay?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You\u2019re walking down the aisle of a supermarket, and you see 2 almost identical ketchup bottles.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>They\u2019re very similar to each other with a slight difference in shape.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You pick one and leave, then another customer does the same, then hundreds then thousands<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>At the end of the month, the company selling those ketchup analyze which bottle sold more.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>And they declare a winner, that\u2019s pretty much A\/B testing in a nutshell.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1986 size-full\" variations of the same product\/page\/website competing against each other to see which one performs better.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>But you run the test on the same URL, here I\u2019ll give you an example\u2026<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>We want to run an A\/B test on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/top-9-heatmap-tools-of-2022\/\">heatmap tool<\/a> page.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>We prepare our copy and run the test, both A and B variants show on the same URL which is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/heatmaps\">https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/heatmaps<\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Keep that in mind because it\u2019ll become in handy when we talk about split URL testing.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the digital world that happens on the same page through some fancy code.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>But before we jump onto split testing, I wanted to answer a few questions, first of them is why.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_do_companies_do_AB_testing_in_the_first_place\"><\/span>Why do companies do A\/B testing in the first place?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" pretty simple, they want more conversions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>But how is A\/B testing going to drive them more conversions? Let\u2019s test that, shall we?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>We\u2019ll use FigPii as an example, we have 2 copies that we want to know which one performs better as a landing page copy.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>So we log into FigPii, open the A\/B testing tab and configure everything up.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>So what should we A\/B test?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_should_you_test\"><\/span>What should you test?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1989 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Doors.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"546\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Doors.webp 1024w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Doors-300x160.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Doors-768x410.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Here are a few options\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>1. Your landing page headline<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This is one of the most important elements of your landing page.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The goal here is to either convey the benefits and\/or the value proposition of what you offer or focus on a specific product benefit.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>2. Your website navigation<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This part is often overlooked and yet adds significant value when done correctly.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It improves conversion by making it easier for users to find their way around.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The navigation should be easy to understand, the text should be consistent throughout all pages (e.g., &#8211; upper-case or sentence case), no more than 2 levels deep, etc.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>3. Colors and graphics<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>When testing color variations, you have to consider both variations in hue and saturation. You can also test in background images, but this will require a lot of traffic to get reliable results.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>4. Call-to-action buttons<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>These are often the main focus on the landing page and so it makes sense to test them in order to determine which color, contrast, or shape draws your visitors&#8217; attention most effectively. Remember that red is the power color when it comes to CTA buttons.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>But you can also consider testing bold fonts, white font on a dark background, etc.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>There is no one-size-fits-all solution here!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>5. Forms<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You should always A\/B test the fields in the form you&#8217;re asking users for their information in. By simply reducing text input fields (email, phone number), you will simplify their experience and improve conversion rates because you won&#8217;t have to force users to input an email they are not interested in.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Then the next question is when.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"When_should_you_AB_test_your_website\"><\/span>When should you A\/B test your website?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As soon as possible!\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Now, more than ever, it&#8217;s so cheap to run A\/B tests on your website.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Finding the right tool is key here because you don&#8217;t want to spend more money on testing than what you&#8217;re gaining out of it!\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>That said, A\/B testing takes time &#8211; usually, more traffic is needed to get accurate results.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A\/B testing is about changes, so if you\u2019re about to change anything on your website, it\u2019s much smarter to test it first.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A new layout, a new design, feature, pricing.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Whatever it\u2019s, you can\u2019t be 100% sure that moving in one direction going to increase your revenue unless you A\/B test to be sure.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Sometimes you think you\u2019re changing into a winner variant but results disagree.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>What is a split test anyway?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Glad you asked, here\u2019s what it is\u2026<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Whats_a_Split_URL_Testing\"><\/span>What\u2019s a Split URL Testing?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A split URL test is a normal A\/B test that you run on 2 different URLs<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>You are testing the same webpage, CTA, design, etc. but on 2 different URLs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>So if you go back to the example I gave at the beginning of the blog our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/heatmaps\">heat mapping tool<\/a> one you\u2019ll recognize the difference.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>One test would be run on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/heatmaps\">https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/heatmaps<\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>While the other would be run on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/heatmaps\">https:\/\/www.figpii.com\/heatmaps-2<\/a> (for an example)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Now that you know what\u2019s a split URL test is, let\u2019s talk about why should companies care about it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_should_companies_care_about_split_URL_testing\"><\/span>Why should companies care about split URL testing?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1991 size-full\" suggested that any A\/B tests you have in mind be run with a normal A\/B testing method and not a split test.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>But there are a few cases where a split test can be quite useful.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>One of those is when you want to improve an existing landing page that gets a lot of traffic but just doesn\u2019t convert as it should.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In this case, using separate pages for each variation will help you determine which one performs better without losing traffic from your main page.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Another reason is if you want to update some features on your website and don&#8217;t want the old ones to disappear completely (for example, keep them accessible through different URLs).\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>It also can be helpful in testing new features or pages like holiday landing pages or thank-you pages that usually get lower traffic than the main ones.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In any case, it\u2019s website.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>If it\u2019s just a small change in design, layout, or CTA then A\/B testing will be more than sufficient for your needs at that given time.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>But
